In October 2009, we had a meeting with officials at the school regarding the Comenius project. There were also several teachers and students who took part in this meeting. To begin with, myself, Frau Grigoleit and Frau Schwarz put pictures and information about the Comenius project and what it is on a board. The information included things such as posters from Scotland and other things from the other countries that are taking part in the project.
We all gathered in the media room in the school and Frau Grigoleit and Frau Schwarz gave a small presentation about what the Comenius project is. They explained what it would mean for the school and which other countries would be taking part. Then the headteacher, Frau Wick gave a short speech about the project.
Afterwards, we had a traditional English ´teatime`. This consisted of orange cake, chocolate cake, tea and coffee. The officials and children all got a chance to sample all the food and drink. However, I have to say that although the tea was supposed to be English tea, it didn‘t really taste anything like the tea we drink in England. Everyone then got chance to look at all the information we had presented on the board.
We then went outside where the sign to say that the school was officially a part of the Comenius project was finally put on the wall with help from all the teachers, pupils and officials.
Afterwards, two other teachers who had been to an official meeting in Austria showed and explained pictures of what they had done whilst there.
Seeing all the pictures and hearing the presentations helped the students, teachers and officials to really see what the school is going to be a part of over the next two years.
